Ephesians 4:3 — “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
This week Bishop Beau preached from Ephesians 4 and Luke 5 on what it means to walk worthy of our calling — not through power, but through lowliness, gentleness, and diligence to protect unity. The central question for the group: are we willing to be gentle with people even when we're right, and are we willing to carry someone to Jesus who can't get there on their own?

  1. In Ephesians 4:1-3, what does Paul say comes before the unity of the Spirit?
  2. In Luke 5:17-20, whose faith did Jesus respond to — the paralyzed man's, or his friends'?
  3. Bishop Beau said, "It's not that I believe I said things that were wrong, but… I was hurting people that I was supposed to be helping." What's the difference between being right and being gentle?
    Leader note: This can surface real pain for people who've been on either side of harsh correction — in church, marriage, or parenting. Let the room sit in it; don't rush to resolve it.
  4. Why do you think Jesus responded to the faith of the paralyzed man's friends instead of waiting on the man's own faith?
  5. Where in your life right now do you need someone else's faith to carry you?
    Leader note: Someone in the group may be in a genuinely low season. Watch for anyone who needs to be pointed toward real, ongoing support — not just a group answer.
  6. Who is someone you could bring to Jesus this week — even if it costs you effort, like tearing open a roof?
  7. What would it look like for you to raise your expectation of what God wants to do through unity in this group?
Closing Challenge: This week, identify one person you can carry to Jesus — through prayer, an invitation, or simply showing up for them — and bring back what happened next week.
