Jesus Is the Seed

A woman washed Jesus' feet with her tears because she knew exactly what her debt cost. Simon didn't understand it, because his sin was better hidden — but debt is debt, and neither could pay it. That's the whole point of the two debtors: gratitude was never supposed to be set by how bad the sin looked. It's set by who paid it. Luke 8 turns straight from that gratitude into a parable, because gratitude and hearing are the same test. The seed is the Word of God, and every heart is ground. The road hears and lets the devil carry the word off before it takes root. The rock receives with joy and has no root when the trial comes. The thorns let cares and riches choke the word before it matures. But the good ground holds the word fast and bears fruit through persistence — not because it worked for a good heart, but because it refused to let go of what it received. Hearing was never neutral. Belief or rejection — there's no third option.
